Do you know what force is? Force is like an invisible hand that can push or pull objects. For example, when you need to move something heavy or lift something up. Force can make an object start moving, stop, or change its direction.
Examples of Using Force
Pushing
Imagine you’re on a basketball court. When you throw the ball, you’re using force to make it fly toward the hoop. What do you think would happen if you threw the ball harder? It would travel farther, right?
Pulling
Today, you’ve probably opened a door a few times—when you pulled the door handle, you were using force to make the door open. If you pull harder, the door will open faster; if you pull gently, it will move slower.
Try it
Išbandykime, kaip skirtingos stūmimo jėgos veikia daikto judėjimą.
You Will Need:
- One ball from the kit
- A ruler
Steps
1. Place the ball on a flat surface.
2. Mark the starting position using a small object—just place it near the ball. This will help you measure how far the ball rolls.
3. Gently push the ball and observe how far it rolls.
4. Measure the distance between the ball’s starting position and its final position.
5. Return the ball to its starting position.
6. Push the ball much harder and measure the distance again.
How does the distance the ball rolls change when different pushing forces are applied?
