Orville: Come over to our workbench, and we’ll show you the airplane models we’ve created so far. Did you know that scientists often look to nature for inspiration when designing new inventions? That’s exactly what we did—each airplane model was created by observing a specific animal and replicating its forms. However, each model has its flaws, which hinder a successful flight. Take a look at our notes for each one.
Bird
The wings are inspired by a bird’s flight, making them very stable.
Disadvantage: Difficult to maneuver in the wind due to overly rigid wings.
Bat
The wings can quickly change direction due to their flexibility.
Disadvantage: Flexibility reduces flight stability and lift capacity.
Dragonfly
Inspired by insect flight, these wings allow for very fast movement.
Disadvantage: Not suitable for heavy loads due to the small size of the body and wings.
