For the experiment, you will need:
- Transparent plastic
- Ruler
- Pen
- Scissors
- Adhesive tape
- Smartphone
1. Prepare
Prepare all the tools necessary for the experiment.
2. Drawing trapezoids
On transparent plastic draw 4 trapezoids.
3. Cut
Cut out the drawing.
4. Bend and stick
Bend the plastic at the edges of the trapezoids. Stick the open border with transparent adhesive tape.
Tip: You can cut out all 4 trapezoids in separate. Then glue all 4 trapezoids to the walls with transparent adhesive tape.
5. Video
Find the video on YouTube using the keyword: hologram.
6. Result
The transparent pyramid is placed upside down on the phone screen, in the center of the video, so that each image is directed to one of the sides of the pyramid.
How does it work?
A hologram is an image that looks as if it is three-dimensional, as if it were real and it could be viewed from all sides. Each reflection of the video from the surface of the pyramid creates the impression that it is located above the screen, inside the pyramid. The fusion of these images and the refraction of light through the translucent material create the illusion of a three-dimensional hologram.
